Terms of Service

Last updated: 6 July 2026

These terms govern your use of everafterpress.co.uk and its subdomains, including Writer's Studio (studio.everafterpress.co.uk) and the Writer's Studio desktop app (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or subscribing you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

The Service is provided by Ever After Books LTD, company number 15169491, registered office 144 Market Street, Dalton-in-Furness, LA15 8RQ, United Kingdom, trading as Ever After Press and Writer's Studio. Contact: lia@everafterbooks.uk.

2. The Service

Writer's Studio is writing software: a workspace for drafting, organising, analysing and exporting manuscripts, available in the browser and as a desktop app. Ever After Press also operates a publishing submissions site. These terms cover both; submissions to the press are additionally governed by any submission or publishing agreement we send you.

3. Accounts

You must give accurate information when creating an account and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 to use the Service, and at least 18 (or have a parent's permission) to buy a subscription.

4. Plans and prices

  • Book Mark: free.
  • Paperback: £9.99 per month (or £9.49 per month billed annually).
  • Hardcover: £20 per month (or £19 per month billed annually).
  • Box Set: £60 per month (or £57 per month billed annually).

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. Each paid plan unlocks the features described on the Studio page at the time of purchase. We may change prices or plan features; if we do, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email, and changes take effect at your next renewal. If you do not accept a change you may cancel before it applies.

5. Billing and renewal

Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your Studio subscription settings or by emailing us; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you keep access until then. If a payment fails we may suspend access to paid features until it is resolved.

6. Cancellation and your 14-day cooling-off right

If you are a consumer in the UK, you have a statutory right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel your purchase within 14 days of the day you subscribe, without giving a reason, and receive a refund.

Because your subscription gives you immediate access to the Service, at checkout you expressly request that we begin supplying the Service straight away, within the cooling-off period. This means:

  • For the ongoing subscription service: if you cancel within the 14 days, we will refund you, less a proportionate amount for the period you had access before telling us you wished to cancel.
  • For any digital content supplied as a one-off download or immediate complete supply: you acknowledge that by requesting immediate supply you lose the right to cancel in respect of that content once the supply has begun.

To cancel within the cooling-off period, email lia@everafterbooks.uk with a clear statement that you wish to cancel (you may use the model cancellation form in the Regulations, but you do not have to). Full details, including how refunds are paid, are in our Cancellation and Refund Policy. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights.

7. Your content

You keep all rights to the writing and other content you create or upload. You grant us a limited licence to host, store, back up, transmit and display it solely to operate and improve the Service for you. We do not sell your writing and we do not use it to train AI models. Publishing rights are only ever granted by a separate written publishing agreement.

8. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to break the law, infringe others' rights, upload malware, attempt to gain unauthorised access, resell the Service, or abuse fair usage of AI-powered features. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, with notice where reasonable.

9. AI features

AI-generated analysis, feedback and images are produced automatically and may contain errors. They are suggestions, not professional advice, and you are responsible for how you use them in your work.

10. Availability and warranties

We aim to keep the Service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access; maintenance, updates or events outside our control may cause interruptions. We provide the Service with reasonable skill and care. If you are a consumer, you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where a digital service is faulty; nothing in these terms limits those rights.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable when you subscribed, for business losses, or for loss caused by your breach of these terms, and our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in that period. Please keep your own backups of important work; export tools are provided for this.

12. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend your access if you materially breach these terms and (where the breach can be fixed) do not fix it within a reasonable time after we ask. If we withdraw the Service entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and a pro-rata refund of any prepaid period.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email or on the site at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not accept a change you may cancel before it applies.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your home nation, and you always keep the protection of your local mandatory consumer law.
