Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 July 2026
This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data when you use everafterpress.co.uk and its subdomains, including Writer's Studio (studio.everafterpress.co.uk), and the Writer's Studio desktop app (together, the "Service"). We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who is the data controller
The data controller is Ever After Books LTD, company number 15169491, registered office 144 Market Street, Dalton-in-Furness, LA15 8RQ, United Kingdom. You can contact us about anything in this policy at lia@everafterbooks.uk.
2. What we collect
- Account data: your name, email address and password (or your Google account identifier if you sign in with Google), managed through Firebase Authentication.
- Content you create: manuscripts, chapters, notes, character sheets, ideas, feedback and submissions you store in the Service.
- Subscription and payment data: your subscription tier, billing history and payment status. Card details are collected and processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Usage and technical data: log data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and error reports, used to keep the Service secure and working.
- Correspondence: emails and messages you send us, including support requests and manuscript submissions.
3. Why we process it (lawful bases)
- Performance of a contract: creating your account, storing your writing, providing the Studio features you subscribe to, and taking payment.
- Legitimate interests: securing the Service, preventing abuse, fixing bugs, and improving features.
- Legal obligation: keeping accounting and tax records.
- Consent: optional marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. AI features
Some Studio tools (such as story insights, analysis and feedback) send the text you choose to analyse to our AI service providers (including Anthropic) solely to generate the result you asked for. We do not sell your writing, and we do not use your manuscripts to train our own or third-party AI models.
5. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with processors who help us run the Service: Google (Firebase hosting, authentication, database and storage), Stripe (payments), our AI providers (for the features above) and our email provider (for transactional email). Each processes data under a contract with us. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.
6. International transfers
Some providers process data outside the UK (for example in the United States). Where they do, transfers are protected by UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or equivalent safeguards.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except records we must keep for legal reasons (for example invoices, kept for 6 years). Backups are rotated on a rolling schedule.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any right, email lia@everafterbooks.uk. We respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
9. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
10. Cookies
See our Cookie Policy for details of the cookies and similar technologies we use.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the site or by email. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
