Cancellation & Refund Policy

Last updated: 6 July 2026

This policy explains how to cancel a Writer's Studio subscription and when you are entitled to a refund. It applies alongside our Terms of Service and does not affect your statutory rights.

1. Your 14-day cooling-off right

If you are a consumer in the UK, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you the right to cancel a subscription within 14 days of the day you bought it, without giving any reason, and receive a refund.

Because a subscription gives you access to the Studio immediately, at checkout you ask us to start supplying the service straight away, within the cooling-off period. The Regulations then work like this:

  • Ongoing subscription (the normal case): you can still cancel within the 14 days. We refund what you paid, minus a proportionate charge for the days of access you had before you told us you wanted to cancel. Example: cancel a £9.99 monthly Paperback plan after 7 days and we refund roughly half.
  • Digital content supplied in one go (for example a one-off download delivered immediately and in full): by asking for immediate supply you acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel for that item once the supply has begun.

2. How to cancel

  • In the app: Studio, then Subscriptions, then cancel your plan; or
  • By email: write to lia@everafterbooks.uk with a clear statement that you wish to cancel, from the email address on your account. You may use the model cancellation form set out in the Regulations, but you do not have to. Cancellation is effective from the day you send it.

3. How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to the payment method you used, via Stripe, within 14 days of your cancellation. We will confirm by email once it is processed.

4. Cancelling after the cooling-off period

You can cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period (monthly or yearly): you keep full access until then, and you are not charged again. We do not give partial refunds for the unused remainder of a billing period, except where the law requires it or this policy says otherwise. Your writing remains exportable on the free plan after a paid plan ends.

5. Faulty or misdescribed service

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content and services must be as described, fit for purpose and provided with reasonable skill and care. If something we supply is faulty, you are entitled to have it put right, and to a price reduction or refund where it cannot be. If anything is wrong, email lia@everafterbooks.uk and we will sort it out.

6. Price changes and withdrawal of the Service

If we raise the price of your plan or materially reduce what it includes, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance and you may cancel before the change applies. If we withdraw the Service entirely, we will refund the unused part of any prepaid period pro rata.
